Corwin, was born on July 23, 2009 at 3am in the morning. I knew Autumn(Corwin's dam) aka P.S. I Love You, had gone into labor around 8pm, because she became very restless and showed no interest in her hay--that was not like her!She constantly walked figure eights in her stall, then would pause and paw the ground, then walk again.This was her first foal so being a maiden mare she was a little unpredictable. But I took her temperature every day--which stayed the same, checked her bag which had developed a month early--so needless to say I was tired from watching her every night and the occasional faux labors--which were gas!Except this day was different, in which her bag was sooo full there was a steady stream of milk when she walked out to her paddock earlier in the day.So I watched, and watched, and my eye lids got heavy, so I thought I would take a break and sit on the couch, the time was around 2am and she seemed to be resting. But all of the sudden I woke up in a panic and it was 3am--I had fallen asleep! I knew I had missed it! I looked out my window and couldn't see a foal, but could tell she had something! So I woke everyone up and ran downstairs, and there he was standing up, wet, and nickering. He was very strong and I was so happy to find out that he was a COLT! I am very proud and each day he develops his personality-- it is definitely star QUALITY!Keep watching for more updates on my little Corwin!
